THE EPHEMERA OF BUSINESS

Back in early 2010 I purchased a large ledger full of pasted in billheads. As I was soaking out the billheads I realized that the first 20 pages had a double layer of billheads. As I soaked the pages, what was hidden underneath was fun to see. One of those vertical billheads was one for O.A. Hohmann proprietor of the City Livery and Mineral Springs Bottling Works located in Arcadia Wisconsin. The billhead contained a red watermark of a livery team. Hohmann bottled orange cider, ginger ale, birch beer, and selzer pop.
