JH Warner Billheads

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot these last few months. Work has been incredibly busy and Gus, the dog, was very ill and in the hospital for a few days. Poor guy can't catch a break. He is on the mend and doing well. Back to the printers of billheads. Jacob H. Warner was a prolific printer of billheads, checks, trade cards and stock certificates. When looking at his billheads, you can see a style emerge. Warner printed decorative headers and graphics. After looking at so many Warner billheads, I can pick out Warner's billheads on ebay.

Billhead of the Month - Henry Putnam

Henry W. Putnam was born in 1825 in Essex NY. He went to Bennington VT in 1864. Putnam built a brick factory in Bennington where he manufactured a clothes wringer, and automatic machinery to make barbed wire. In 1875 Charles de Quillfeldt of NY patented a toggle seal for a bottle. The rights to his patent were sold several times when in 1878 it was purchased by Putnam and Karl Hutter. Putnam would continue to buy the rights to de Quillfeldt’s inventions with the best known being the Lightening Jar which was used for beverages and home canning.
